81 year old male patient monitored during total hip replacement. Patient has a history of pneumonia, coronary artery disease, aortic stenosis, and mitral regurgitation.
Rhythm analysis indicates sinus tachycardia. Ectopy in the form of quadrigeminy is also present.
This encounter shows a unique pattern of ectopic activity known as quadrigeminy. This is a repeating pattern made up of three normal sinus beats, followed by one Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC). The underlying rhythm is sinus tachycardia at a rate of over 100 bpm. Normal P waves and a regular rhythm are present.
