75 year old female patient with coronary artery disease and vascular disease monitored. Patient also has an upper GI bleed.
Rhythm analysis indicates normal sinus rhythm (NSR) at 92 bpm. Frequent premature atrial complexes (PACs) and bigeminy are seen.
This encounter shows a normal sinus rhythm with a large amount of premature atrial complexes (PACs), evolving into a pattern known as bigeminy. This is when a pattern of one normal beat followed by one ectopic beat develops. In this case, the ectopic beat is a PAC. More often, bigeminy is associated with premature ventricular contractions (PVCs).
